Our Experience and What We Stock
Mid Antrim Angling Centre has been serving anglers from our shop in Ballymena for years, and fishing is not just our trade, it is what we do on our own time off too. We have spent over 40 years fishing lakes, rivers, and loughs across Northern Ireland, including the Bann, Lough Neagh, and the smaller stocked coarse fisheries that make up so much of local angling life. We also fish regularly across the border and on trips further afield in England and Scotland, so we see a wide range of venues, water conditions, and species habits, not just the ones on our doorstep.
That hands-on time on the bank is exactly why customers drive past bigger shops to reach us. We have cast the rods we sell, tied the rigs we recommend, and tried the bait we stock, in real conditions, in all weather. When a customer tells us they are heading out for an evening session on a day ticket water or planning a week on the lough, we can talk them through tackle choices based on what has actually worked for us, not just what is on the shelf.
Our range covers coarse, carp, pike, and game fishing, with rods, reels, lines, hooks, and terminal tackle from established names such as Shimano, Daiwa, Greys, Vision, Hardy, alongside a full stock of bait, groundbait, and ready-made rigs. We also carry landing nets, unhooking mats, seat boxes, and waterproof clothing, so whether someone is kitting out a first setup or replacing a snapped tip section, they can get everything sorted in one visit.
Beyond the gear itself, we offer in-store advice as standard, not as an add-on. Anyone can walk in and ask about local venue reports, rig setups, bait choices for the season, or which reel suits their budget and style of fishing, and get a straight answer from someone who fishes those same waters. That is the kind of practical, tested knowledge we think anglers in and around Ballymena deserve from their local tackle shop, and it is the reason customers keep coming back, whether they are after a quick top-up of hooks or help planning their next session.
