A simple yet deadly plastic tube fly, the Sunray is fished 'on the swing' or slowly retrieved while water temperatures remain cold . This pattern is famed for its regular ability to produce fish on the most dogged of days. In warmer conditions the plastic tube can be hitched and fished across the top of the stream or cast square and stripped back across the river . It is one of those patterns that can cause great excitement and hugely aggressive takes as the salmon chases the fly or even leaves the water looking like is has erupted .
