The Mallard and Claret is probably one of the best known of Traditional Irish wet Flies.It is a very old pattern and although it represents nothing in particular it will take trout right through the season.It is very successful during the early season duckfly hatches and later in the season when sedges are about . It is a great point fly for salmon and seatrout in both river and lake .This pattern is tied with jungle cock cheeks and with a body colour of Traditional Irish dubbing No. 14 Medium Claret .
